I am left eye dominant. On top of that, as my eyes are aging just a bit, my contact correction is such that the right eye is purposefully weaker to make it easier to read up close. This means that for focusing, it is useless. The left eye is the one I use. Even though it means that if I were using a camera with a wind lever, it would get in the way, I have found that there is a big plus to shooting left eyed. That is, I can keep both eyes open and have the camera block the vision of my right eye. This allows for a much more comfortable shooting session as I don't have to keep shutting one eye while using the camera. For a wedding or other event, this can really help.
