OTOH, I remember what their upgrade to the PZ-1p turned out to be. :( A nice camera, but not very improved spec-wise.

I think this prediction is in line with what most of us have come to believe, and I can't imagine that it would provoke a flame war. I'll be happy with a higher resolution APSC replacement for the D. At least for now. My remaining concern would be in regard to buffer size and write speed, but I can't imagine that Pentax would introduce an upgrade that didn't offer a major improvement in this area. By the way, wouldn't it be nice if the current battery grip fits the new D?
