I says "we're not interested". Without a Pro level offering the Pentax
brand will
no longer be associated with professional photography and this will filter
down
to the punters and eventually obscurity will follow. I think entropy will
prevail.

Pentax's interest in the pro market is spelled "medium format".
They have never expressed an interest in the pro 35mm market, and in fact
have only had one 35mm camera body that was top end enough to compete in the
pro market, and that was only for a few years until the market shifted, and
Pentax didn't.
