I would be interested in learning if there *is* such a thing as a small digital with fast response time. I think "fast-responding digicam" is still an oxymoron.

I don't know the Pentax Optios. The Panasonic LZ2 is pretty fast, as are the Ricoh cameras (but the latter are not distributed in the US). In a small pocketable, the LZ2 has a long lens and image stabilization to its credit.
