Thanks for the comments, Jack.  I was fairly pleased with the
negative.  The scan, however, was not so pleasing.  I play with it in
photoshop for a bit and then gave up.  I think I may scan it again,
and if I get a better result I'll try to adjust the contrast a bit.  I
agree that it's muddy.  To my eyes, there's too much gray and not
quite enough black and white.
