I agree with about everything Mark Roberts said.
It is indeed VERY useful in portrait mode but you WILL have to shit it
off when using it in landscape mode for a while (say, you know you
won't need it, just shut it off) otherwise you will AF exactly when
you shouldn't have ;)

That said, I find 3 inconvenients with the BG attached:

1/ when I let the camera on my side, the grip gets in the way. Maybe I
should do more fat to care of this but now it is a problem :D

2/ Weight is a bit too much when using a small lens like the 18-55 .
Specially if you put batteries both in the camera and in the grip.

3/ the ML button is "cheapish" and no memory compensation button.

Being accustomed to the SuperA/ProgramA with its Motor their is no way
I could do without the D grip.
