You've hit the nail on the head, there. It takes quite a while to work out exactly what the camera does, when, and why. For a long time I was using my A lenses off-A, and wondering why the results were so bad. You can do that on the PZ1-P, but not on the DSLRs.

But the main lesson is that if the camera appears to be malfunctioning, chances are it's operator error, not camera failure.
