some comments on the "Kitsch" theme:

Kitschy Sunset - Jens Bladt
---------------------------

A very warm and peaceful panorama shot which reminds me of the "kitsch"
photo wallpaper of colorful autumn forests and sunsets that where so popular
here when I was a teenager. I like Jens' Panorama's too...

Heidy - Rick Womer
------------------

I had an incredible "Deja vue" here because I took a picture of the same cow
last summer arranged with Geranium flower pots
and much less details on the cow. It stands on the balcony of the Hotel
Adler in the old city part of Zurich - the Niederdorf
and Hirschenplatz, a well known tourist meeting point for Swiss Cheese
fondue. I love the Zurich skyline on the cow here,
this shot is technically very well done and of course Kitsch as Kitsch can
be ;-)

Birth of Aphrodite - Harald Rust
--------------------------------

The most beautiful goddess would not really need that much "golden
surrounding" but that makes it a perfect example of
"Kitsch" for me. The photo suffers a bit from the small size, I would like
to see the details in a big print. Of course it would be nice to know the
name of the location (also for the other PUG entries)...

Akerselva - Dag Thrane
----------------------

Looks like a lovely place to me, I do not think of "Kitsch" watching it,
maybe it just fits a Cliche?
I would like to see a bit more of that tree and the branches, because my
eyes keep wandering between the duck and the gray background bank. But then,
I love trees :-)

Medieval Kitsch - Joseph Tainter
--------------------------------

I would either like to see the whole dome or a typical detail.
A close up of the roof parts would interest me here. The distortion and cut
of the church window hurts.
I like the idea and I see the relation to the theme but dislike the chosen
presentation here....

Reservisten Krug - Jan van Wijk
-------------------------------

A very good idea and indeed a first class example of "Kitsch" for me. I'm
not so sure about that blue background here, it looks a bit like a tint from
an underexposure and a bit too strong to me.
The lovely details and font on the mug could be a bit more sharpened (on my
monitor).

Worst of all, they're asymmetrical - Vic Flanders
-------------------------------------------------

Now this is a shot where I really would love to know the story behind it. Is
it just an arrangement or a real snapshot?
Anyway, a funny and good idea. I think the photo could easily be improved by
removing the part on the left upper side,
the slightly bluish/green cast between the legs and more tweaking like
sharpening and adjusting the black and white points.

Fans - Matjaz Osojnik
----------------------
I don't think of "Kitsch" when I look at this photo but otherwise I like it.
I can't exactly say why I do find it funny.
I would like to see what the man on the left is pointing his camera, short:
the story..., without it leaves me unsatisfied.
I think the b/w pro's here could give you some advice how to improve the
shot a lot technically....

Kitsch World - Henk Terhell
---------------------------

Has even the name of the theme! Makes me think of the colorful shop windows
of candy stores and similar. The photo looks overexposed to me especially
the bright figure on the right side but that should be correctable. Somehow
I would like to
see a sales person here :-)
As with other PUG entries, some more information about the location and your
thoughts and feelings that made you take that photo would have been
interesting for me.

more comments on the next photos soon (in this theatre) :-)
greetings
Markus
