It might help if I knew what the "PUG" was. I've been on this list
since about February, seen an occasional comment about a PUG theme or
something, otherwise haven't a clue as to what it's all about.

I'm exaggerating, of course, but I've seen no effort made to explain
what it's about or motivate interest for newcomers to Pentax gear
like me.

Hmmm, there used to be a link at PDML.Net for it -- in describing the PDML.
Doesn't appear to be there anymore. Doug may have taken it down when the PUG
was temporarily moved.

Pentax User's Gallery -- the main page always shows the current month.

There are Pentaxians who only exhibit their work there, like Harald Rust, who
is very good. Or mainly exhibit their work there and rarely submit PESOs to
PDML.

When first on the list I submitted some photos to the PUG. When I still had a
Pentax camera, that is. It was much more popular before PESOs came along.

But it is still a good place to exhibit one's work. Because it is permanent
and all in one place (you can go back and look at previous years). Different
themes for each month. But each month also has an open gallery section for
those
who don't want to do the theme.

And it used to be more common for people to do some reviews of each month's
PUG. Spontaneous, of course, no one is required to. And a lot who did only did
a few, usually those they liked best, although some fairly often would do the
whole PUG.

For instance, Graywolf used to pick out one as the best of that month's PUG.
But he seems to have stopped doing that. A lot of us have stopped commenting.
Too many really.
