Enough force might shear the pin, it isn't very heavy gauge. What I'd
worry most about is that it might just bend the pin jamming everything
tighter together. Unfortunatly when it's extended it's designed to lock
the Auto/Manual switch into the Auto position which then locks the pin
in the extended position. Something's got to give, I'd say it's the lens.

I just tried all my SMC Takumars with both my M42-K adapters, none of
the Auto/Manual lockout pins actually get caught in a cutout but all
come worryingly close on one of the adapters.
If it is this pin on the lens getting stuck on the cut-out in the
adapter... then the worst a "brute force" approach would be likely to do
would be to damage the lens, don't you think? (Best done with the lens
pointing downward so that any debris doesn't fall into the camera body.)
BTW: Dave got onto the PDML to ask this question after he found my web
site (via a search engine, I'd guess) and *telephoning* me from the UK!
I don't have any experience with this matter but I thought you lot would
be able to offer some ideas. Thanks for coming through for me ;-)
