Interesting potential here: if Samsung prioritises production of chips for
Pentax, and offers them at low margin to increase volume, Pentax could
really begin to kick some ass. But, and it's a big but, they still have to
look at their marketing, although I have noticed a much higher advertising
profile in Oz of late.
Incidentally, I used to own a Samsung zoom lens - adequately sharp, very
solidly made, but several degrees cooler than my other (Pentax) lenses, so
that slides made with it were noticeably less appealing than the rest.

In the consumer electronics industry Samsung is a
brand I grew to respect a long time ago.
They have an uncanny habit of producing products
as good _or better_ than the competition at lower
prices.
This bodes well mixing them with a company renowned
for quality glass and small, reliable, feature rich
SLR's, and now DSLR's.
Could be a very good thing for us all.
Don (NOW who do I send the "petition" to?) ;-)

'Samsung announces agreement with Pentax to co-operate and jointly
develop new digital camera products. This will broaden the product range
to offer consumers greater choice'.
