it depends on which company is willing to commit more resources to this. if it is Samsung, what they want to get out of it may be different from what Pentax does. for one thing, an aggressive player with money means the possibility of significant price drops in DSLRs, which would be good for the consumer, but won't help either company's bottom line a lot since profit margins will drop a lot. it may mean sales of Pentax logo bodies might not change much and the total Pentax K DSLR body market may rise mostly in Samsung bodies. it may also mean that the Samsung insists on a departure from the traditional SLR form to distinguish the cameras from others. if Pentax continues to be the lens designer and OEM, then Pentax stands to make a bunch more money since profit margins are pretty high on lenses and should remain so. the rumors from Japan are that there will be two DSLRs from Pentax/Samsung next year, a $700 body in the spring and a $2000 body in the fall, both with Samsung sensors. this also means that the camera Tom was talking about is either pretty much finalized and only waiting to be announced, or it has been shelved for next fall as the combined Pentax/Samsung announcement.

Great news! Now the future of DSLRs with K-mount is much brighter, althought not every of these products would carry Pentax logo! Samsung is now powerful
company - both economic and marketing wise!
