I store open cartridges in plastic bags that seal with a zip closure.
With the 2200, switching them uses up some ink. I would guess that the
same is true of the 2400.

It will only give you the option to print on matte papers if you have
the matte black ink installed. Check to make sure you don't have the
photo black cartridge installed.
