given the price of the Sigma 12-24/4.5-5.6, you knew the Pentax was going to be pricey. so far, i like the Sigma in Pentax mount except for the usual Sigma failings, lots of flare, and no way to put a filter on front without vignetting. OTOH, the Sigma does cover a full 35mm frame. i seem to have received a particularly good example. i've not used it on a film camera, so i don't know if the nice sharpness when stopped to f11 or so on the *istD applies across the frame on film or not. the Nikon DX 12-24/4 is an excellent lens and very flare resistant, but it is also priced about the same as the Pentax one. if the lens reports are good enough, i will get the Pentax one too, but nowadays, buying new Pentax gear is a bit lower on the priority list than new Nikon gear.

I hope that they really have it in stock. At Adorama. Does anyone on the list have this lens? I'm going out on a limb to buy this, not knowing its optical qualities, but at the price its at, it better be good!
