at eye level. It works well for low or high angle and covert photography,
but for plain and simple picture-taking I use the viewfinder exclusively.

My instinct says to do so too, but I use my Digi P&S at macro mode 99% of the time, where the viewfinder fails miserably due to parallax... The manual explicitly says one should consult the LCD in this case.
