Bob S. made the observation of a 4 inch limit, so the digital camera options
get a little larger. In this case though - wherever the definition lies -
isn't it a case of protecting the 'official' photographers at concerts etc
from later sales of quality images from those hidden in the crowd? I assume
that you could try to get a longer lens in with a third party, if you were
out to take more than a few snaps of the event.

Case or excuse, one or tother.
To be fair if the venue is privately owned, the venue owner can prtty much make up whatever rules he wants regarding this, and the ticket buyer can accept or go home.
