Hi Shel
People calling the police for nothing should be charged IMHO.
And how, pray tell, would one know it was "nothing" except to have the
police check the situation out?
Did they know when they pulled up on the scene? Very likely not.
Stopping someone wandering around in a small community is not police
harrassment. It's "community policing." Look it up...

Glad you did well, I would not have been so cooperative.
Uh huh. In which case, you'd be having a lot harsher words to say than
Shel did in reporting how you were treated by the police, wouldn't you?
Dependng on HOW uncooperative you acted, you might well have ended up
spending some time chained to the bench in the station house.
You do *not* mess with those enfranchised to "keep the peace" with impunity.
Keep a civil tongue in your head and be polite, and chances are very
good that you'll be treated just as civilly as you treat them.
