Hi!
Don't go for FAJ 18-35. I've never had it, but a full-frame lens
starting from 18mm, for just over 100 bucks simply cannot be good.
Dario Bonazza has a comparison here:

Fascinating link.
I have just purchased Tamron 17-35/2.8-4 (I don't like Sigmas), which
has received very good reviews, and is hihgly rated by Minolta users
(Minolta sells this lens under its own name). I still hadn't a chance to
give it a serious test, because of a poor weekend weather, but as of
first indoor shots, it looks promising. I am in almost the same
situation as you (have two film bodies and DS) - and I love wide angle
lenses. So I decided to buy this Tamron (also after my good experiences
with another lens from SP XR Di series - 28-75/2.8) - I hope I won't
regret this decision...
If you want any particular type of a photo made with this Tamron - let
me know, I'll try my best.
I don't have anything particular in mind. Nor do I perform any lens
testing and against the brick wall throwing...
I have one interest though... It appears that I can shoot wide
landscapes and such with my 77 Ltd and stitch the pieces later. So my
general interest is to use the super wide angle in closer than infinity
distances... You know, people, close-far motifs... So if you could show
us/me some shots of this sort - that would be neat...
But please don't do that especially for me... Just show us some shots
with the lens and let it be not all landscapes...
Also I would be particularly interested of course in precision and speed
of AF of this lens.
Thanks a whole lot in advance.
Boris
