I have the Nikon D1 and D2H. Quess what . I use the istD as my all purpose/walk 
areound
camera and i love the thing.

I predict your younger bro will see the eror of his way and convert to Pentax 
as a day to
day camera.

Now ifhe needs 40 fps etc then he needs to upgrade to the Canons or Nikons. 
I amd very satisfied with my istD as a "steath camera.People run when they see 
the
70-200VR with 1.7b tele.
If i walk around with the istD and say....A50 f1.7, noone even knows i'm there
