Tim, There is a lot to like in this shot. The one issue for me is that the upper background is stealing my attention away from the leaf. I think because the golden color showing through in the leaf is muted and the background is so strong. If you were to crop it just about at the top of the needles - just below the blowout, there would still be golden glow to indicate the sun, without taking my attention away from the leaf.
