You're right, a "cute" kid doesn't make a good photograph any more than
a good photograph makes a "cute" kid. I made a comment earlier today about
photographing my kid taking his first steps in gratitude to the "no-brainer"
mode on my camera. I'm HOPING you understand that there are certain, spur of
the moment, SECONDS in a parents life when it is more important to snap a
handful of "decent" memorable shots to look back on than to miss a bunch of
stuff by taking the time 'trying' to land the one perfect shot. Then sure,
when it's all over, you take some more shots of him/her and worry about
lighting and composition details, etc.
