The 15mm being an older lens probably was in a warehouse someplace in the world and dropped shipped from there to you (however, such a lens is mostly hand assembled anyway and may have been manufactured just for you).
Mt rep indicated that really low volume lenses are now produced to order, and that pretty much all the lens makers are doing the same thing.
It took almost 3 months to get my A15mm from Pentax. William Robb
