As to buffer for the D - it is 5 frames of raw (if you turn off NR,
> you get 6). The write speed with Lexar WA 40X cards is about 7-8
> seconds per frame. This is an area that the DS has improved a fair
> bit. I was thinking it was about 3 seconds.

This is about my only big complaint of the D is the buffer and shutter lag. The
D2h is
amazing for buffer
and FPS. I rarely use it in the horse game, but there are certasin shows were
it is a
must.
I find the lag is noticable from the D2H and the D1. Enough that i tend to miss
more jump
shots than with
the nikons.

As you know my main interests are
Horses
Rural Landscapes
Old buildings
some nature
some candids
pets

The istD is fine for all but number 1, but if used as a candid camera(sorry Mr
Funt) or
horse portraits,
passports etc, its fine. If as you mention Bruce, i blow a shot, its due to my
lack of
understanding the
subject or lighting.
To conclued, i use the Nikons for what they can do for me and the Pentax as an
alround
tool.

Oh and Dad and i have been Pentax folk since 1970
