It's pretty good isn't it, low light scenes that I once really could only shoot 
in B&W I now shoot in colour generally with great success. Filtering the noise 
that there is in high ISO shots with one of the new intelligent NR programs 
like NoiseNinja or NeatImage can produce extremely impressive results.

The in camera NR isn't designed to reduce the random noise that is prevalent in 
high ISO images, it's designed to eliminate the spots caused by "hot" or 
"stuck" pixels in the array, since these kinds of problems generally only 
become apparent over longer exposures the NR function only kicks in at 1/4 
second or longer from recollection.
