once you have captured a burst, the *istD takes a long time to write to the card, especially in RAW mode. until it clears a frame's worth, you can't take another picture. #2 here was taken in windy conditions with patchy sun and mostly clouds. the sun lit up the entire field of blueberry bushes for perhaps 2 or 3 seconds at a time. taking pictures each time the sun shone, every 5-10 seconds or so, for about 2-3 seconds, and the *istD is unable to keep up after the first 5. why take more than one or two? because i knew i would have to look later at the blur pattern in the wind blown bushes to decide which one was going to look best. i took about 20 shots to pick one. the 20 are near identical but the one i picked had what i felt was the best combination of sun light and wind blur. the D2X i used to shoot these pictures cleared the buffer completely between shots.
