Hi Frank ...

You startled me for a moment, and I checked the "N" on the fellow's
sneakers.  I blew up the image to 1600% and used the eye dropper tool to
check the "N" on a pixel by pixel basis.  There were five pixels that were
pure white, and  few were close.  However, that's needed to provide some
texture.  Nevertheless, I brought those that were pure white down a little,
and, in fact, shifted the entire "N" down a scosh.  I think the results are
much better now.  Thanks!

Glad you liked the pic.  BTW, the guy's looking at a transit map of SF ...
