I also carry a 1.4 xs extender 100% of the time but only use it sparingly. For local wildlife, I'll take the 600 maybe 1 in 4 times and only bother to set up about a quarter of the time I take it (locally - out of the car). When I've got the 600 in the field I also have a 1.4 xl & 2.0 xl extender but very seldom use the 2.0.
