I'd say the better lenses such as the limiteds would provide 60 lppmm given good hand held technique but even if we consider the 45 lppmm figure (or thereabouts) that I did test practically then you've confirmed my position. The fact is per print size you need greater magnification for an image shot on an APS body. So using a camera like the *ist D you loose maximum lens resolution and a good chunk of the lenses coverage too.
