Two possible solutions, neither of which are perfect.
1. Print landscape! (no, really...)
2. Even if you only use it for printing - install Firefox and print
from there. It is much better-behaved when printing web pages.
I'm sure there are other answers, but that's what works for me. I
actually have used Firefox pretty exclusively for the past couple of
years (??) or however long it's been up over version 0.8-something.
