well, it was the National Championship :) Having the blank and a balanced rack with lots of possibilities is desirable. having no vowels at all is not - The rack as a whole was useless at that time, and the blank didn't help. I know if I point the picture out to the Scrabble list there will be some jerk who wants to know the words on the board, the score, etc... and yes, having a blank for more than one or two turns with no bingo to play is considered bad news. any play made with a blank that was less than 50 points would probably make the op think the player had both blanks. ann
