The Heliar is an inverted telephoto design, but not a radical one being designed for a thin rangefinder body with no mirror in the way. It sits about as close to the film as the Biogon 21 .. I had both once upon a time. The Contax Hologon 16 lens sits so close to the Contax G cameras' shutter blinds that the camera is programmed to only use the external light meter sensor when it was fitted, TTL light metering is disabled completely. It shows extreme format growth.
