This is what I do, after a burst of shooting I always return the camera to 
ISO200 and daylight WB, then I always know where I'm at when I pick it up.

One of my early gripes too (the MZ-D proto had a big bold ISO display on a rear 
LCD, not too difficult to deliver) which lead me to adhere to the above 
procedure.
