How translucent some of these gemstones are, often depends on how
thinly/thickly they are cut. A cabochan shape is usually fairly thick as
opposed to being a thin slice. Like cutting a potato in half versus slicing
it for potato chips (crisps).

I believe you're right, Tom.
It's opacity sort of places it. Altho' the site says translucent, it
doesn't 'carry' light as a more transparent gemstone does, such as the
garnets, and their sisters...
