lol ... One of the best soft focus lenses I ever used was an old
135mm Nikkor that had been sitting on a 'top shelf' where it was
forgotten, sans lens cap, for a half a dozen years. The front element
had gotten hazed with a funny, stippled finish from the layers of
dust that sat on it until I found it and cleaned it off. It produced
some beautiful, "just enough" softness without robbing the subject
matter of details.
