I am sorry but my reply is rather a question to anyone regarding the
focal length of the 55mm f/1.8. I read somewhere that in case of
Nikon SLRs the distance between lens mount and film plane requires
that all lenses of 50 or shorter focal length are of retrofocus
design and some twenty-thirty years ago when lenses were not CAD-ed
it was very difficult to make fast retrofocus objectives. That was
the reason why Nikon's first f/1.4 standard lens for its SLRs was a
58mm and not a 50mm one. Could this also be true for Pentax K 55mm
f/1.8 or there is a different reason for such choice of focal length?
