Thanks for commenting, Godfrey.
I tried your HSV suggestion, and I agree it looks a lot better. You
may have solved a recurring issue for me there!
Glad that worked out to your liking.
Concerning the colour space, I have many bad experiences with sRGB
for web. It may be something I do wrong, I don't know... -But
embedding the Adobe profile has given more consistent results for
me...
Hmm. Are you using the "Convert to..." colorspace command, choosing
sRGB? It makes no difference for browsers that are actually honoring
the ICC profile (Internet Explorer and Safari do on Mac OS X, I don't
know about others), but so many people use poorly calibrated monitors
and browsers that don't honor the embedded ICC profile that sRGB is
usually a better rough estimate.

Lovely composition.
I notice that you posted it with an Adobe RGB (1998) profile
embedded; you'd probably do better to convert it to sRGB (and
embed the sRGB tag) for web posting.
It is a bit too blue, although I agree that light in the forest
can be bluish. An HSV adjustment layer and desaturating in the
Cyans by 50% cleans it up beautifully.
