i have actual rez images shot with other 12-24 lenses you can compare with. 
these are low compression images and are 2-3MB in size.

Sigma 12-24/4.5-5.6 - sharpened and levels, but no CA removed

on first glance looking at your image and comparing with these two, it looks 
like the Sigma i have is as sharp. the Sigma flares easily and that is one 
reason i don't use it much. the other reason is that it can't take any 
filters attached to the front without vignetting at any focal length. the 
Nikkor vignettes if i stack filters, but it is OK with a single filter
