I found the Epson 2450 software good for scanning prints,and
Vuescan for negs.
I never could get a good scan from Silverfast.
I've been scanning negatives and prints for nearly a decade, got
pretty good at it about 1999 or so, but it *is* a tedious and slow
process. I moved to digital capture in 2002 because it had improved
to the point where I could get what I wanted from it. Haven't scanned
anything in a while now, but I try to keep my hand in it every so
often because I have a ton of negatives that I'd like to incorporate
into some work in progress.
