Extended warranties are usually a great deal for the people offering them, not a great value for the people buying them.
If you buy with a credit card, many will automatically double the manufacturer's warranty. Check with your card provider first, but it's usually the best bang for the buck. Just pay the bill when it comes in at the end of the month to avoid interest charges.
