I actually bougt the earlier version (no macro) quite cheaply on an local
auction - just for fun - and because I didn't have a lens wider than 20mm.
It's sharp enought at F8. There is some chromatic abberation, though:

Not on my to-buy list either, but I just got a Tamron 28-75 f2.8
yesterday. Of course, the cash purchase discount on that was about the
same as the cost of this one.
