The best preview I've found on this camera so far is the one at LetsGoDigital.com: <http://www.letsgodigital.org/html/review/ricoh/gr/ digital_camera_EN1.html>

I have not seen any high ISO samples yet. BUT let's not think it will circumvent the laws of physics: This is a camera with a standard 1/1.8" sensor, like many others in this market space, and that makes it basically an ISO 64 camera. ISO 1600 will be unusably noisy compared to a Pentax DSLR.

I've been very interested in the Ricoh GR Digital too, as well as the Panasonic LX1. After due thought and consideration, I decided to try out the LX1 ... the image stabilization is, I feel, a larger plus for a camera with this size sensor over any advantages the prime lens of the Ricoh might offer.

I have a soft spot for the Ricoh R series cameras (have the R1 and the very cool GR1s, both sadly untouched for a long time since they use that analogue stuff). I've been eyeing the GR Digital for a while and it might be just the thing for a low-light carry-around. Writes to RAW, has B mode as well as a 3min min shutter speed, and goes up to ISO1600

Only I haven't been able to find a sample of a shot taken at 1600. It as the normal tiny 1/1.8" sensor so that might be a concern. Has anyone come across an example on the www?

Good links, Godfrey. Hadn't seen the japanese ones before. You are probably right about IS for the Panasonic. Hmm...always wanted to own a Leica.

One other thing to say about the GRD, having both wide angle and macro focusing is very cool. The GRD seems to focus a lot closer than the LX1.
