Once when I flew out of Heathrow I looked up at the usual bank of screens showing the status of arriving and departing flights. At the very end of this row of monitors one showed a blue screen that read: "This program has performed an illegal operation and will be closed down."

So when you land at congested Heathrow, the world's busiest airport, remember that the place runs on Windows.

Makes me want to fly through a different airport...

I've seen that at many places. It's just the passenger information system; not stuff that is really important. OTOH, I know someone who has been working on the new UK air traffic control system. Apart from having the total UK system in one building, which is scary enough, his stories about the software make me think very hard about flying as a travel option. It took them two years to get the building's environmental management system working properly.
