I've had no problems getting it to recover .pef files in the past Mark.

I though the same as you when I first ran the program. Out of
desperation I had it search for .nef (D1H/D1x) files. It recovered the
files, I then changed the extension to .pef. Works like a charm. All
exif data retained.

I just scanned a card I have here on my desk, just to make sure my
memory isn't failing me, and yep, works fine. Added bonus is it was
free :-)
