002 is a picture of three small pines
that I'm turning into larger sized
bonsais. I remove the main growth point
periodically and trim them down
constantly. I decided not to pull them
out when they were small (they´re right
outside the sitting room window) for
some strange reason. These pictures are
not meant to be judged
'photographically' they're all very
mediocre snapshots just to try the
camera out as a normal piece of
equipment. It's back on the microscope
now and will stay there for a while. But
since most of us are concerned with the
weather these days I thought I'd post them.
Its interesting that if a few inches of
snow fall on the UK everything grinds to
a halt. They are simply not prepared. I
don't think that winter tyres are to be
found south of the Scottish Highlands.
Perhaps they have them in Wales? Driving
without them in Finland would be
impossible and even to try -- illegal.
Four German business men came to Finland
in a huge Mercedes some years back.
Foreign cars are not subject to the
'winter wheel rule' (or weren't at that
time) they were warned. Four bodies were
shipped back to Germany a few days later.
Here a metre of snow on the ground is
normal and temperatures can go way down.
In 1983 it was ~ -45C to -48C in
Toivakka for a week and we have -20C ~
-30C regularly each winter. *But* for
the last few years it's been much
warmer. Perhaps I should tell some of
the oil GOPs about this?
What a lot of OT rambling. I apologize.
