What is "pixel peeing?"

For  shooting JPEG with the DS, the contrast and sharpness are
substantially reduced. and I think the camera is set to reduced saturation
as well.  This allows a lot of flexibility when working with the JPEG file.
These have become the new "default" JPEG parameters.
