 I've also heard the CZ lens doesn't have an aspherical element; in fact I've 
seen its optical diagram somewhere.  If I remember correctly they made some 
minor optical changes and added one extra element, and I suspect this was to 
avoid having to include an expensive aspherical one.

 I'm also curious to know :)  Especially considering the price difference.  CZ 
may have used tighter tolerances in the grinding and assembly processes, 
making the wide-open performance better and lowering sample-to-sample 
variation.  In fact, they may have achieved this by just omitting the aspherical 
element.  They weren't easy to make in those days.  BTW, I'm totally guessing 
here :)
