I have tested DA18-55 vs FAJ18-35. Unfortunatelly, I can not show those
pictures I made right now (but I can try to find 'em, if anyone is
interested).
Shortly - on digital: DA sharpness is a bit better wide open, stopped
down FAJ is even better. Geometrical aberrations at wide end on DA are
definitely worse than FAJ. On film - DA can't be used at wide-end, FAJ
is surprisingly good. Sure, FA20-35 is better lens, no question, but FAJ
is very good performer, especially if we consider the price. BTW, build
quality of FAJ 18-35 is MUCH better than other FAJ series lenses.

I found it to be reasonably sharp, very good flare control, and decent
enough contrast. It does feel cheap, but it performs well enough.
