I agree, I guess they are as suspected. Resolution is OK but handling of contrast is bad.

I have use a scanner like that for 6x6 slides, and the results were acceptable of the contrasts of the slide wasn´t too difficult. Colour negatives are not as good.

For its price I thought it was excellent, although I believe its now been replaced by the 4870 (or something similar). I replaced a Minolta Dual
Scan II with the Epson as I wanted the ability to scan medium format
negatives at a very reasonable cost.
