Shooting raw is like shooting negatives and keeping them. You and still
make jpegs from them, use a batch process and and it is not much
trouble, but you still have your negatives if you want to make that
exhibition print next year sometime. The price is an extra step and a
lot more storage space.

At least that is how I view it.

Actually, a better analogy than mine. :-)

I just find my workflow similar when shooting RAW to when I was shooting
slides. Ditto with shooting JPEG and negative film -- similar workflow -- less
work but with a lot less control.

But I like your analogy better.
