In my neighborhood, one of the best repair folks around is Fred Mueller at International Camera Technicians, http:// www.ictcamera.com/. Fred did overhauls on both the Pentax-A 70-210/4 Macro and Pentax-M 85/2 that restored them to as-new condition for a reasonable price.

Essex Camera Services, http://www.essexcamera.com/, is another outfit that's done good work for me in the past, including repair of some rather difficult to find service for items like Olympus Pen EE cameras.

Thanks, Godfrey. I'm leaning toward sending it off to someone who knows what they're doing. Disassembling a lens scares the crap out of me. Got any suggestions for competent lens repairmen?

That's the sort of thing I always send a lens to a technician to correct.

Hey, folks! In an effort to stimulate the gear-headedness around
here, I thought I might mention a little problem I'm having with an M series lens. The blades won't stop down past f16. I can see marks on the blades, so it's fairly obvious where f22 should be, but moving the aperture ring from 16 to 22 does nothing. The linkage moves, so going from 16 to 22 does affect the meter reading. I rarely use f22 on this lens and I haven't noticed any exposure problems with other settings.
The blades respond quickly and do not appear to be sticky at all.
They also look dry and I can see no oil on them.

Any thoughts on a simple fix, or will this require a CLA or some other solution?
